‘Are they going to kill Mantis now?’: Fans convinced that Marvel reveals that Star-Lord and Mantis are brothers will impact Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The MCU Guardians team is a much more interconnected group than one would realize. Rocket and Groot used to be best friends, but now Groot is like Rocket’s adopted son. Peter Quill loves Gamora, and Gamora and Nebula were sisters. Yondu was Quill’s adoptive father! Mantis and Drax were the outsiders, but now they are the best of friends. We initially assumed that Mantis is Quill’s half-sister, as Quill’s real father, Ego, mated with his Terran mother, along with someone of the same species as Mantis. This was initially denied by James Gunn, but has now been confirmed by the Marvel Legends episode Mantis on Disney+.

When Ego mated with Mantis’s mother

While Ego killed all of his descendants that did not carry the Heavenly Light, he allowed Mantis to live while she helped him sleep. He did not raise her as her daughter, but more as a pet/slave. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t Quill’s half-sister. So it’s nice to have another connection within the Guardian family. But following this reveal, many fans are convinced that Marvel is going to kill her off in Vol. 3 to up the emotional stakes of the film.

It always made sense.

As a step:

Will Impact Vol. 3.

Nope james gun deny this?

Well, James Gunn has claimed that this connection was not true. But he had also questioned the appearance of Adam Warlock in Vol. 3. And then, a few years later, he brought Warlock into the mix anyway. So maybe everyone who thought about the Mantis and Quill connection in the past guardians of the galaxy vol. two he was right after all. Mantis already has a bigger role in Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special. But does this reveal mean that she would end up dying in Vol. 3? You can’t be sure about that because her chances of dying from it are much lower than Rocket’s!

Everyone in the group has died or disintegrated at least once except for Rocket Raccoon. Nebula killed her own time variant. Is Rocket going to die?

James Gunn has promised that this movie will be about Rocket as his creator, the High Evolutionary, is coming onto the scene. So it’s very likely that because Gunn is so related to Rocket, he could be the one to sacrifice himself. guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 just like Groot, Yondu, Tony Stark, and Natasha Romanoff have done in the past. But let’s hope Gunn subverts our expectations and saves it somehow.

Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special begins streaming on Disney+ on November 25. Then the vol. 3 will arrive on May 5, 2023.
