TCU ’Athletics 2021/2022 Recap: Football

The next sport that comes up in our time recap history is TCU Indoor Volleyball. 2022 hasn’t been a good year for the Frogs but it has found hope and steps on the right path for a program that will enter a new era next season with first -year coach Jason Williams.

The Frogs finished the entire 8-18 with a 2-14 record in the conference game with a toughest roster that has won 6 top-ten games over the course of the season with teams ranked 1 and 2. on land in Texas and Wisconsin. The season began in Madison, Wisconsin for the Big 12/Big 10 tournament where the Frogs lost two tough games to Wisconsin and the top ten Minnesota. Then TCU had the best time of the 5th straight win, setting a record for all teams that won with 16 with the first set in a nail-biting 5-set loss to Houston Baptist. A win over the Incarnate Word over a hard -fought 4 lose game for the Frogs over a 5 set win over Oklahoma at Fort Worth. After losing the last games in Austin to the Longhorns, TCU will split the series against Kansas State in Fort Worth, with both games going 4 sets. Unfortunately, the Frogs won’t win another game the rest of the season but will set the record for going a 5-set heartbeat to Baylor’s team in the top ten. The over 4,000 fans who attended the game were a big sign that the program was moving forward. As we saw with TCU basketball this past season, a positive atmosphere can have significant effects on a team’s performance, timing, and offseason performance.

Honors and Gifts:

Frogs set the record this year with the most Academic All-Big 12 picks in program history with 10 picks in the first and second rounds. Madi Cole, Dani Dennison, Alyssa Heist, Mykayla Myers, McKenzie Nichols, Bella Swafford, and Ashley Wehrstein were selected to the first team and Taylor Raiola, Afedo Manyang, and Audrey Nalls received second team honors. .

Jill Kramer:

It’s impossible to talk about TCU volleyball without mentioning the huge impact Jill Kramer legend has had on the program. Not only has Kramer been the head coach since 2014, but he is the first coaching champion for the TCU volleyball team in program history and holds records of assists, assists per set, and with full attacks. He led the Frogs to two NCAA postseason births when he led headlines and two trips to the NVIC postseason tournament. Kramer coached the team from its first win over a top 10 opponent, giving Texas its end of the 2015 conference in Austin. Kramer and TCU parted ways after 2021 but his impact on the program could not be changed.

Looking ahead:

This offseason, Jason Williams was hired to be the new head coach of TCU volleyball. Williams was the first head coach for Baylor and was previously trained at Junior Club Level in Texas. TCU has previously been shown to be a good choice for enrollees such as bringing in a top 5 as of 2019. In addition, Williams ’coaching experience is at the lowest levels in the state. Texas and gaining training on a campus in Baylor to work. The environment is better for recording. Williams did an excellent job filling coaching positions by hiring Frog Lauren Otto Rao who helped lead the volleyball team as a player to its first NCAA tournament in the United States. 2009 and led Keller High School to a State Championship in 2022 as their head coach. Williams also took over the signing of Morgan Thomas to become a registration manager and assistant mentor. Thomas has retired as a consultant at Texas Tech, Pitt, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Operations Director Mackenzie Keenan, assistant coach Kyle Luongo, and volunteer assistant Reilly Killeen were supervised by Williams and were responsible for maintaining and facilitating transition between coaches on the program. The Frogs return most of their work from last year’s team as senior manager McKenzie Nichols returns for her senior season and is close to all of the attackers including Julia Adams and Taylor Raiola had both more than 200 kills last year. The future is all about a return season for the Frogs with a lot of returns, good coaching resources in the offseason, and an intense training program with 4 high schools and 3 high schools. changes can be delivered immediately. .

Next Season Program:

The first home games of the regular season should be the same as games with No. 1 pick Wisconsin and No. 7 pick Minnesota scheduled for August 26 and 27. Home games against Texas A&M and Alabama feature the remainder of the non-conference schedule and the new home and home set of conference games will have rivals Baylor and Texas in the mix. Fort Worth each.

All the signs pointing to the 2022 season are the most exciting for TCU volleyball in the first year of Jay Williams ’tenure. TCU fans need to #packthescholly this fall to support the Frogs.
